NFI’S SIGNATURE FILMMAKING DIPLOMA

Our Cinema Production Program totally immerses you in the filmmaking process. For nine months NFI students live, eat, and breathe film and how films get made.Our philosophy is to have students learn all the stages and roles involved in making a film. The best way to achieve that is by actually making films. Throughout this diploma program, students collaborate on various projects to create their own films. By the end of the program, students gain the necessary skills, invaluable connections, and the content for their very own professional demo reel.

Our 36-week Cinema Production Hybrid Program is designed for film industry enthusiasts who may be out of state or have limited availability during conventional class hours. The program combines both remote and in-person learning, structured to accommodate diverse schedules while providing comprehensive training in film production.

The first 19 weeks feature interactive remote learning, including online lectures, group discussion boards, and weekly video conferencing with live instructors. Following this, weeks 20 to 30 transition to in-person instruction at our Nashville campus. Students will be equipped with a Black Magic 4K camera and engage in collaborative projects with peers, producing a variety of film types such as a one-minute non-dialogue film, commercial, music video, documentary, and short narrative film.

The final phase, from weeks 31 to 36, returns to interactive remote learning focusing on post-production techniques, understanding the business aspects of the film industry, and professional self-marketing strategies for filmmakers.
